How it works

Bilingo works like an interpreter on your call. It speaks for you in their language. It speaks for them in yours. Each reply arrives a moment after the speaker finishes.

Start in three steps

1

Pick two languages

Yours and theirs. 79 languages, any pair — set it once, change it any time.

2

Dial any phone number

Mobile or landline, anywhere we serve. Nothing for them to install.

3

Talk. Bilingo translates both ways

You speak; they hear your words in their language, live. They answer; you hear theirs. The call sounds like a call.

Price

One price per minute. Shown before you dial.

You buy a pack of credits, then spend them by the minute. Nothing renews. New accounts start with free credits, so you can try a real call before you buy anything.

  • US call · $0.30 per minute
  • $14.99 → 1000 credits
  • ≈ 50 minutes of US calling

A human phone interpreter costs $2–8 per minute.

Bilingo does the same call from $0.30. You do not book anyone, and you do not wait for a third person to join.

Calling abroad works too — 61 destinations.

See every destination’s rate below — or in the app before you dial.

Caller ID

They see your real number. So they pick up.

Verify your own phone number once. After that, Bilingo shows that number when you call. The clinic, the school or your landlord sees a number they know instead of a strange one. That is often the difference between someone picking up and your call going to voicemail.

Family calls work the same way. 61 destinations, one rate per minute.

Before you download

What Bilingo does, and what it does not.

  • Phone menus work. The keypad stays on screen during the call. When a menu says press 1, you press 1, and the call continues.
  • Check the destination list first. We can call 61 destinations. If the number you need is not on the rate list, Bilingo cannot dial it yet.
  • There is a short pause between speakers. Translation takes a moment. Calls move in turns, the way they do on a speakerphone.
  • Bilingo is not for emergency calls. Dial 911, or your local emergency number, directly from your phone.
  • Refunds go through the store. On iPhone use Apple’s Report a Problem page. On Android use Google Play’s refund request page.

Common concerns

Straight answers

No app on their side

The person you call gets an ordinary phone call. They do not download anything or sign up for anything. They just answer their phone.

No subscription

You buy a pack of credits and spend them. Nothing renews, nothing expires, and there is no monthly fee if you stop calling.

You only pay for calls that connect

The person you call is never billed. If they do not answer, nothing is charged — you pay only for minutes on a call that connects.

Real phone numbers, not another chat app

Bilingo dials the normal phone network. Mobile phones, landlines and office lines all work. If you can dial the number, and the country is on our list, Bilingo can translate the call.

They hear a natural voice

Bilingo speaks with a clear, natural voice — not a robotic one. Most people simply hear someone speaking their language and answer normally.

Questions

Common questions

Does the person I call need the app?

No. They get a normal phone call on their normal phone. Nothing to install, no link to click, no account. That is the point of Bilingo: it works with the people in your life who will never install a translation app.

Will they see my own phone number?

Yes, once you verify your number in the app. Bilingo then shows that number as the caller ID, so the call looks like it came from you. If you skip that step, calls go out on one of our numbers instead.

How much does a call cost?

A call inside the United States or Canada costs $0.30 a minute. The most expensive destinations are about $0.60 a minute. The table on this page lists every one. You pay only for minutes on a call that connects.

Can I call an insurance company, a clinic or a bank?

Yes. It is one of the main reasons people install Bilingo. Phone menus work too: the keypad stays on screen during the call, so you can press 1 when a menu asks you to.

Which destinations can I call?

61 destinations across North America, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Asia. The full table on this page comes from our live rate list. If a destination is on it, you can dial it today.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. New accounts get free credits — enough for a short first call, about two minutes to the US. There is also a free demo call if you want to hear how the translation sounds first.

What does the other person hear?

A natural voice speaking their language. There is no announcement and no robot sound. The demo call in the app lets you hear it yourself before you dial anyone.

Which languages does it translate?

79 languages, in any combination — you are not limited to English. Spanish to English, Portuguese to Japanese, Ukrainian to Polish: any pair works, in both directions.
